A little about the New Forest

I live in the The New Forest and for me its my working landscape with endless secrets to discover. The New Forest's reveals itself to you slowly and you get a more intimate feel of the forest once you escape from the confines of the car parks, the only way to truly appreciate the sights, sounds and smells of the forest is to get out there and explore, and for me, to sketch and paint.

The New Forest is a genuine artists paradise with a colour range to satisfy every palette as the seasons change. Miles of traffic free tracks leading you right into the heart of the forest with only a few hills to worry about. There are open moors, or lakes and ponds and dark densely wooded river banks giving the landscape artist a lifetime of subject matter.

There can only be few other places in England where the ancient landscape has remained so unchanged. In 1079 when William The Conqueror named the area his 'new hunting forest', little could he imagine that nearly 1000 years later his 'Nova Foresta' would still retain its mystery and romance.
